Barcelona Arts
Barcelona has an active and ambitious cultural life. Walking the streets of Barri Gotic, las Ramblas or Gracia is an artistic experience in itself. But the city's art and culture are not limited to its nearly staggering amounts of great architecture. You can see great works from art in several galleries in the city. The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (National Museum of Catalonian Art) is among the world's finest medieval art museums. The Museum of Contemporary Art features works from the 20th century and will continue to develop over the next century. Pablo Picasso himself donated much of the collection that is displayed at the Museu Picasso.
The city's great music halls are delightful to look at as well as to listen in. The Palace of Catalan Music (Palau de la Musica Catalana) is the major venue for concerts and recitals in the city. Opera and ballet lovers will find much to cheer at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, or the Liceo, as it is more commonly known.
