Barcelona Parks

Parc Guell Bench, Barcelona
Like all great cities, Barcelona has some wonderful green spaces that create a tranquil diversion from the pace of the city. Many are exactly what you would expect in a city park. Open meadows, formal plantings and benches for sitting and meditating. Parc de les Aus and Parc de l'Oreneta are two of the more traditional parks in the city.
Montjuic is the city's largest green space. But some of Barcelona's parks offer a few delightful surprises. The influence of the modernist architects and artists are clearly obvious.
Antoni Gaudi, the city's favorite architectural son, had a hand in the two best known parks in Barcelona.
Parc de la Ciutadella is a refurbished military installation. It is also the home of the Barcelona Zoo, a great place to pass a few hours. Be sure to see the rare albino gorilla. It is the only one in captivity in the world.
Parc Guell is a park, but it is unlike any park you have ever visited. Colorful decorations and unusual buildings will fill you with images that you will never forget.
