Paella of Barcelona
Paella, or Paellera as it is often called in Spain, is a Spanish rice dish that has its roots in the city of Valencia. It is made in a large pan on the stovetop, and contains rice flavored with olive oil and saffron. Ingredients vary between recipes and region to region, but common additions are seafood, various meats, and vegetables. This is the perfect dish to order with a bunch of friends when you have a few hours to kill: many restaurants make it to order and the wait can be long, but is definitely worth it in the end. In Valencia, Paella is usually eaten on Sundays and during the Falles Festival. Traditional Valencian Paella usually consists of various meats, and can be ordered in most Valencia restaurants. Locations along the ocean usually serve Paella loaded with different seafood, including shellfish, shrimp, squid and prawns.

Paella pans are large, flat and shallow. Because the Paella pan can be cooked over many heat sources, the dish can be cooked outside, and makes a great dish for a family outing, with everyone just eating directly from the hot pan.
