Poble Espanyol Barcelona
The Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) was originally built for the 1929 World Exhibition, in order to present a "model" of the architecture, culture and lifestyle of the various regions of the country. 115 structures, which range from the 10th to the 15th century, are available for your inspection. The massive gates to the city are a faithful - and imposing - reproduction of the gates of Avila. When the Olympics came to Barcelona, the area was improved, and a number of restaurants and nightclubs were added to the districts offerings. During the day, you can enjoy a number of cafes, shops, demonstrations and workshops. You can see artisans from all over the country at work and purchase objects from nearly every province in Spain. After the sun goes down you can return to enjoy some excellent cuisine, live music and flamenco. Admission is free if you have a reservation at one of the area restaurants.
